Exxon Mobil-Funded Denier Groups Push Email Hacker Scandal
Over the past decade, oil giant Exxon Mobil has paid millions to organizations and "think tanks" in an attempt to deceive the public about the science behind global climate change. It's no surprise that those very same organizations are now doing everything in their power to please their benefactor by drawing attention to the so-called "Climategate" scandal involving hacked emails from the University of East Anglia in England.

On September 10, 2009, the Wall Street Journal reported on a recently released report that criticized cap-and-trade, instead calling for a carbon tax. Unsurprisingly, the report's author has close ties to oil giant Exxon Mobil, which also favors a carbon tax.

Oil Companies Bankroll "Experts" In New Anti-Regulation Infomercial
As the debate over cap-and-trade heats up in the Senate, the Competitive Enterprise Institute has released what it calls a "documentary" on climate change. The video, Policy Peril: Why Global Warming Policies Are More Dangerous Than Global Warming Itself, is an attempt to downplay the risks associated with global warming. CEI fails to note, however, that a host of "experts" interviewed in the video are employed by organizations that have accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from America's largest oil companies.

ExxonMobil Exaggerates Emissions Reductions In NYT Ad
On June 16, 2009, ExxonMobil placed an ad on the front page of the New York Times which significantly overstated emissions reductions. Additionally, the ad neglected to mention the staggering growth in the amount of vehicles on the road and omitted the fact that a majority of the reduction in emissions occurred in the 1970s with the passage of the Clean Air Act.

Heritage Foundation Green Jobs Panel - Bought and Paid For By ExxonMobil
On May 4, 2009, the Heritage Foundation held a panel titled "Busting the Myth of Green Jobs" to show that the experience of Spain is "more a cautionary tale than a blueprint for success." Instead of showcasing the views of unbiased academics and economists, the Heritage Foundation put forth a panel of individuals financially connected to ExxonMobil.
